Rescue2 team qualify as Rope Rescue Level One Operators

We are pleased to announce that six of our Rescue2 confined space rescue team members have recently qualified as Rope Rescue Level One Operators.

Congratulations to: Andrew Meade, Andrew Scotting, Anthony Cottrell, Paul Allison, Roger Gumbrill and Rob Dipper.

The Rope Rescue Operator course gives students a thorough introduction and grounding in all of the basic elements of work at height, rope access and rope rescue and prepares them for a role within a rope rescue team working under a rope rescue supervisor. Students will be able to make themselves safe on roof tops, cliff tops and steel structures using a combination of safety connections. They will be able to reach casualties by ascending or descending rope access systems and construct a range of rescue systems appropriate to the situation.

The course is assessed by a written paper and practical tests throughout.

The course content meets the requirements of BS8454:2006.

Alpha Training launch Rescue 2

Confined Space Training specialists, Alpha Training, have recently launched Rescue 2 – a new dedicated technical rescue service providing teams of professional, current serving front line emergency service personnel or technical rescue specialists.


Rescue 2′s Confined Space Safety and Technical Rescue service will provide employers with the peace of mind that their employees and contractors will work in the safest environment possible at all times, and should the need arise, the provision of a competent technical rescue team to bridge the gap between an incident occurring and the emergency services arriving.  Rescue 2 provide a fully interactive service. They are not just a “standby team” – they provide a dynamic safety assurance ensuring complete safety supervision and monitoring at all times.

The team
All rescue technicians are rope rescue operator or supervisor qualified, City and Guilds 6150 and medically trained to First Responder level including use of oxygen, entonox and AED. Many team members also hold additional medical qualifications such as Remote Medic and Immediate Emergency Care Technician.  More importantly the team has a wealth of rescue experience in industrial, urban and natural environments.  They have a unique rescue experience that is very difficult to find anywhere else.

Many of the personnel have been deployed and worked all over the world in many of the modern world’s most serious disasters in places such as Montserrat, New Zealand, Japan and Turkey to name a few. They also work within their respective emergency services as part of a technical rescue team responding to more complex emergencies supporting their other front line colleagues. Many team members operate in front line immediate response stations responding to a wide spectrum of emergency situations on a regular basis.

Safety and Rescue team provision
Rescue 2 can provide a safety and rescue team provision for most industries and environments. Their minimum team size is 3 rescue technicians. They can provide much larger teams, or multiple teams if required. A full suite of safety and rescue equipment is provided as standard such as:

  • Rescue and team welfare vehicle
  • Gas Monitoring equipment
  • Emergency escape BA sets
  • Harnesses
  • Large selection of rope access and rescue equipment
  • Confined space tripod and winches
  • Fall arrest blocks and retrievers
  • Work position/restraint equipment
  • Stretchers
  • Comprehensive medical support kit including oxygen, entonox and AED.
  • Working breathing apparatus sets
  • Top person/entry equipment
  • Barriers and signage
