In today's ever changing workplace threats such as environmental disasters and terrorism, it is vitally important that the role of the evacuation coordinator also changes to support the realistic emergency threats in the modern workplace.
The purpose of the course is to introduce delegates to the role of the fire marshal and emergency evacuation coordinator. The course is aimed at providing delegates with the necessary skills and competence to carry out these important roles in their own specific workplace environment.
The learning outcomes of this course will show that the delegate has attained a good knowledge base and understanding regarding fire safety issues in the workplace and at home. The delegate will also have to suitable knowledge and understanding of the roles and responsibilities of both the fire marshal and emergency evacuation coordinator. This knowledge and understanding will also apply to the delegates workplace specific fire safety and evacuation policy and procedures.
Course content includes:
- Regulatory Reform (fire safety) Order.
- Fire Statistics – the scale of the problem
- The chemistry of combustion – How fires start & spread
- Actions in the event of fire
- What can go wrong – examples of failures in fire precautions
- Fire risk assessment
- Classes of fire – Fire fighting media
- The duties of a Fire Warden/Marshal
- Evacuation procedures
- Video presentations
- Tour of the workplace
- The practical use of fire extinguishers
- The role of the emergency evacuation coordinator
- Emergencies other than fire such as bomb, terrorist and environmental
- Company specific fire safety policy and documentation.
This course includes the use of our "enviro friendly" propane gas live fire training simulator and use of fire blanket and various extinguishers (suitable risk assessment and area required).
