On successful completion of this course, delegates will be able to set up a safe system of work including method statement and work in accordance with a hot works permit. The delegates will also understand the fire safety requirements associated with hot works and have a practical understanding of fire prevention and safe use of fire extinguishers and fire blanket in the workplace.
Course content includes:
- Fire Safety Legislation
- The cost of fire in the workplace
- Main Causes of fire
- Chemistry of Combustion - How fires Start and Spread
- Basic fire risk assessment
- Fire Precautions in the workplace - Examples of poor practice
- Human Behaviour - actions in the event of fire
- Classes of Fire and identification and use of fire extinguishers/fire blankets
- Safe storage of flammable products
- Safe systems of work (hot works permits and method statements)
- Company specific fire safety policy and documentation
